Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • 2 1/4 cups ( 12 oz) all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 4 oz ( 1 cup) walnuts (optional)
  • 1/2 lb butter
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 12 oz ( 2 cups) chocolate chips
  1. Preheat oven to 375 °F.
  2. Grease cookie sheets or line with parchment paper.
  3. Chop walnuts to the same size as the chocolate chips.
  4. Sift together flour, salt, and baking soda.
  5. Cream butter and sugars together until fluffy, about 5 minutes.
  6. Add eggs and vanilla extract and beat again until fluffy, about 2 minutes.
  7. Stir in the flour mixture until just combined.
  8. Add the chocolate chips and nuts and stir to incorporate well.
  9. Scoop 1-tbs portions onto the cookie sheets, placed about 1 inch apart.
  10. Bake 8 to 10 minutes, until they begin to turn light brown at edges.
  11. Cool 1 minute, then slide off cookie sheet onto a wire rack.

Storage Instructions

When fully cool, store airtight up to one day. For longer storage, freeze.
